# Navigation links

> Show and replace the header and footer links of the knowledge base site.

Navigation links are the links shown in the header and footer of your public knowledge base. For fields and response details, see the [API reference](https://apidocs.neetokb.com/api/navigation-links/list.md).

## List navigation links

This command shows the header links and the footer links, each in display order.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetokb navigation-links list
```

## Update navigation links

This command replaces the header links, the footer links or both. It reads them from a JSON file. Updating needs the Manage themes permission.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetokb navigation-links update --json-file links.json
```

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `--json-file` | `string` | Yes | | JSON file such as `{"header_links":[{"label":"Docs","link":"https://example.com","kind":"external_link"}],"footer_links":[]}`; each link has label, link and kind (external\_link or action), and an optional id |

```json links.json theme={"system"}
{
  "header_links": [
    { "label": "Docs", "link": "https://example.com/docs", "kind": "external_link" }
  ],
  "footer_links": []
}
```

Each set you send becomes exactly that list, in that order. Links that are not in the list are deleted, and an empty list clears the set. A set you leave out is not changed. A link is matched to an existing one by `id`, or by `label` when it has no `id`. A label is up to 25 characters and unique within its set. `kind` is `external_link` or `action`. The change is all-or-nothing.
